Six steps to a certified ethanol reading.
Using the Class 'A' With NABL Certificate ethanol testing kit. Follows Petroleum Industry Specification.
Measure fuel sample
Take 100 ml of ethanol blended gasoline in a clean 150 ml measuring cylinder.
Add distilled water
Add exactly 30 ml of distilled water using the graduated pipette.
Shake vigorously
Insert the stopper tightly and shake the cylinder for 30 seconds.
Release pressure
Loosen the stopper to release vapor pressure - do not remove it.
Let it settle
Allow the cylinder to stand undisturbed for 5 minutes.
Read the meniscus
Observe the separation and read the aqueous layer at the bottom of the meniscus.

Close the cap, shake 10-15 sec, let it settle for 2-3 minutes.

Read the ethanol percentage from the scale.
Note: Wipe off petrol immediately to ensure long-lasting printing on the bottle.
